Breaking His Barrier

A tender moment between Orion and Laverna (Iona's parents). For his whole life, Orion rarely let anyone get close to him. The only ones he seemed to trust were the Sky Maidens and the Hawk/Bird people. He trusted the Sky Maidens because, after he escaped from his tower back in his hometown, the sky maidens saw the potential his powers had for good, so they more or less took him in and helped him gain complete control of his powers. The reason he also trusted the Hawk people was because they both shared a similar problem, they were both hunted down because they were thought to be valuable or dangerous. He would assist the Hawk people by protecting them from potential hunters while they flew through his territory and even provide them shelter in his caves, and in return they gave him gifts such as their feathers, for they had medicical properties to them (hence why they were hunted).

And yet when he met Laverna, her warm smile and kind nature melted down the barrier he placed on himself to keep people away. One day he was chased down by people who wanted to capture him for his powers. During the struggle he lost control and his powers went berserk, accidentally killing the pursuers and Orion began to dive deep into despair. The struggle took place near the cave he shared with Laverna (he let her live with him because she had no where else to go after she ran away from home) and she ran out to comfort him. And much to his surprise, instead of being afraid of him, she hugged him and cried, sad that such a gentle person was always targetted by people. He was shocked at her reaction at first, but then tears began to stream down his face as he leaned against her warm embrace. And suddenly, his world looked a lot less cold and bleak.
